Meet the 2008 Brigade Commander!!!

Jacob Bignell

Summarize your CLR and CLR frontiersman experience... greatest memories?

My life changed dramatically after my first summer at Chief Logan. That first week opened me to new people, new ideas, new challenges; above all, it led me to new and greater desires. I remeber both my pioneer and trapper rendezvous being very surreal and radically life-changing for me. I believe it hit me strongest sitting on the Rock the night I earned my trapper what it all meant to have the code in your heart and what it meant to be a frontiersman and a scout. I owe a great portion of who I am to the way God used Chief Logan and the people in it to mold and shape me. Through the program and camp I have met my best friends that I now consider brothers; and I have seen how the friendship and love that permeates this camp truly has the power to change lives.

What is your vision for the CLR frontiersman program?

I believe the frontiersman program is one of the strongest fires that keeps Chief Logan burning and it made so because of the passion of the people within it. It is my desire to keep that passion roaring by allowing the program to do what is has always had the power to do. To speak to the hearts of the men and women involved with the program, unleashing the confidence and passion already in their hearts. I would like to see all frontiersman taking an active role in leading and shaping the frontier experience. This program belongs to all frontiersman and I want to see all who proudly wear claws make it thier own by creating memories and legacies that will last a lifetime.

What's your favorite book, movie, and quote?

Book: "Waking the Dead" by John Eldredge; Movie: "A River Runs Through It" ; Quote: "You are never a great man if you have more mind than heart" (Beauchene)

If you could do anything with your life, what would you do?

I'm still wrestling with what my true desires are and where I'm being called to serve with my life. Whatever trail I end up taking, it is my desire to serve others and follow the example laid down by Jesus of humility and passion.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you want to go?

I've always wanted to through hike the Appalachian Trail; all 2,000 miles from Georgia to Maine. To hike the trail with a few buddies would definitely be a burl of an experience and an awesome way to spend the greater portion of a year.
