Meet the 2004 Brigade Commander

John Elmore first began coming to Chief Logan Reservation as a second year scout, week 2 of 1998, as a member of troop 53 from Athens, Ohio. He had just turned 12 and he was excited about going for his pioneer that week. John remembers the excitement and anxiety of going on a first rendezvous to get his first claw, and the anticipation of coming back to camp to go on another rendezvous and get a second claw. John returned to CLR every summer after that and always made extra trips to camp to attend extra rendezvous later in the summer. John got that second claw in 2000 and was called out for MM as a camper in 2002. John also participated in CIT A and B during that summer. John enjoyed one of the greatest summers of his life last summer as a first year staffer at Nature. He is still active in troop 53 and is currently finishing up his eagle project. John is eagerly looking forward to serving the Frontiersmen Program as the Brigade Commander this summer.

What are some of your favorite memories of CLR and the frontiersmen program?

“One of my greatest memories was sitting around the campfire when I went for my pioneer watching Jeremy Rounsley go crazy singing and dancing. I thought he was nuts!
I always loved the climbing tower at HA since I was first old enough to climb; I also always enjoyed the area campfires when I was a camper.”

Were there any life changing moments for you in scouting and the frontiersmen program?

“Getting my trapper was a big moment. It was then that I really understood what it truly meant to be a frontiersman.

What do you do in your spare time?

“I play drums in band and I love soccer!”
