first of all, i apologize for my slow response towards the spring vous. this past week or so has been extremely hectic for me. however, heres the 'word in the woods': a huge thanks is deserved for following(in no specific order) : mark howell, blaine rowe, fransisco contreares, dante caldwell, peter wink, tommy wink, tim machovina, aaron machovina, jhediah bragg, lindsey patton, rachael ballard, dan burris, tom wright, and chuck wright. these frontiersman (or potential frontiersman) did an outstanding job clearing out (or 'clearing back' i should say) the brush that was invading the parking lot. the spring vous was full of hard work, frontiersman games and stories, and even a long hike, all the while embracing fellowship and cheerful service. once again, thank you! i am currently in dayton spending time with family before camp starts, however, as soon as i get a chance to return to jackson (where my camera is), ill upload some spring-vous-pictures! jay: thank you! and for the record, i wouldnt mind chatting (phone, email, facebook, whatever) about 'the way the stick floats' (if you catch my drift) whenever you get a chance. i am exceedingly excited about this summer and have high hopes for the program! grrr!!! bcks

Just heard from MM-Waechter that MM Kyle is taking over as BC! Congrats Kyle! Thanks Jacob for all YOUR hard work! I remember the three of us having some GREAT conversations on the program, and Kyle, you have my full support! I know your heart is in the right place when it comes to the program! Awesome! Have a great summer CLR!

SPRING VOUS INFO: Who – anyone with fur on their chest! What – camp service project Where – CLR When – second weekend of may (7th - 9th) Why – GRRR! Tentatively, we will show up Friday night and have a “welcoming-vous”, getting back intouch with everyone and just shooting the breeze (maybe even talk about the future of the program as well as camp). The physical work will start Saturday morning, and should be finished Saturday night. Sunday will be either a “finish it up” day or a “lets wake-up, eat, then go home” day depending on how much we get done Saturday. Im looking forward to the continued commoradery and fellowship that spring vous (or any vous) always include! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate! Hope you can make it! Spread the word! BC KS

Attention all Frontiersmen: Help beat BREAST CANCER and SEND SCOUTS to Camp this Summer!!! Make any size donation and help me beat breast cancer and send scouts to CLR this summer! I will be running a competitive 5K this summer for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. My fundraising goal is only $100 and here is the deal: If you guys help me reach my goal (which should be relatively easy), I will return the favor by donating enough money to send a scout to camp this summer! This is your opportunity to help me serve two great causes (nobody likes cancer and we all love camp). Any size donation will help (yes, even $5 will do wonders!)--and remember, donations are tax-deductible! You may donate online with your credit card or debit card at my personal page: http://columbus.info-komen.org/site/TR/RacefortheCure/CLM_ColumbusAffiliate?px=6898044&pg=personal&fr_id=1644 I hope you all help me in these two wonderful causes. Yours in friendship, Sergio Tostado P.S. GRRRR

For those of you who have not heard, I would like to formally present to you the next and current Brigade Commander, BC Kyle Spiegel. I am more than confident in Mountain Man Kyle's abilities and character to lead our program well. It has been an honor and a truly humbling experience to lead the Brigade for the past two summers, but in my heart, I know that it is time for me to pass the beads on. Thank you to the Brigade and those who encouraged and supported me for the past two camp seasons. I look forward to seeing you, my fellow frontiersmen on the rock, until then..."watch yer top knot"

you ever see a bear try and sneak up on a MM and attack his tent at 4 in the morning in a middle of a storm? lets just say, said bear wont be lookin for a rematch any time soon! ; ) but on a more serios note, id like to start thinking about when a spring vou would work best for everyone. if you have a specific date that would work best for you, id like to hear about it. As of right now, id like to shoot for early may, and infact, the earlier in may, the better. Ill post this to fackbook as well, but hit up friendsofthefrontier.org when you can to keep everyone posted! looking forward to a great summer!

Thanks John!! I've been in physical therapy (when it isn't snowing) and doing a lot better. My eyes are much much better and I got a letter saying I can return to work. Yahoo!!! Can't wait for my next fire run. Sorry about all the snow and the freeze out campfire was canceled. Was looking forward in black powder shooting.

It's been too long since I've last been on FOTF, and it's easy to notice all the updates I miss out on. I've now got back in touch, thanks to Rad, and I'm anticipating my next chance to catch a vouz. Wish I didn't have to be a grown up, or I would spend a week at camp! I hope everyone is doing well and I wish Turtle a speedy recovery! Sincerest GRRRRRRRRs, John

I thought I would share some compliments that I often hear which actually reflect all Frontiersmen, GRRRRRRRR, and not me. Often people come up to me and say, "James, you're a wilderness man and are comfortable with being outside in any circumstance. You know wild edibles and other useful information that most outdoorsmen do not." Well, my response to those people is that I'm not the only one. All Frontiersmen hear that compliment that may be said to a lonely Mountain Man, but most importantly it REFLECTS YOU!!!!! Not me.
